Hier, comme je marcherais chez moi après un rendez-vous avec une de mes partenaires linguistiques, j’ai decouvré un passage petit et merveilleux: le passage Lhomme. Comme le passage d’Ancre, c’est non couvert et pas très long. Le passage Lhomme est située de la rue de Charonne au 11ème arrondissement.
Yesterday, as I walked home after meeting one of my French conversation partners, I discovered a marvelous small passage, located just off rue de Charonne in the 11th arrondissement. Like the passage d’Ancre, the passage Lhomme is only one short block long.

Ce que m’interessant était la cour pavée et la végétation qui court les façades….lui confèrent une ambience paisible, quasi provinciale. Il date du XIXe siècle et son dédale de cours illustre le passé industriel du faubourg Saint-Antoine.
What caught my eye were the cobblestones and the thick vines that cover the fascades of the buildings, giving the passage a tranquil and almost provincial feeling. Dating from the 19th century, it’s low, simple buildings reveal the industrial past of formerly suburban Saint-Antoine. Although most of the original craftsman workshops have been replaced by private homes and artists studios, the mirror-maker Remlinger and chair-maker Chaiserie Faubourg have avoided this fate.
